He walked to the village and went by his friend, who was a blacksmith.
His friend listened attentively and decided to help.
"You need to be able to protect yourself against hoods and villains but also against tigers" he said.
"Because we don't know how far you will travel, you need a weapon for defense but you don't want it to be a heavy burden."
He forged a sword and attached this new sword to a long stick.
And so the poor farmer had a fine weapon and a very handy walking stick, all in one.
